Our friend/ local photographer Justin DeAndrande approached us several weeks back to put on a demo for the kids at Collins Elementary in Long Beach, CA. The demo/ assembly was approved by the Principal and was meant to inspire the kids to not give up and preserver before taking their standardized tests!Since the school is right in our backyard here in Long Beach and has a high population of lower socio economic based families, we agreed to do the demo free of charge. We teamed up with a nonprofit based in Compton called Bridge to Skate. Bridge to Skate uses skateboarding to transform the lives of youth by creating dynamic new paths to self-confidence, personal empowerment and responsibility for each other and their communities.Bridge to Skates founder and director Chantelle Heroux came out with some of their skaters to put on a show for the kids. Keen Ramps founder Cory Keen joined in on the fun and did a few tricks for the kids.Keen Ramps founder Cory Keen joined in on the fun and did a few tricks for the kids. One of the kids drew this for us during the demo!It was a great time and we’re super thankful to have provided a fun outlet and break for the kids. We’re sure that more than a few kids became inspired to pick up a board!Make sure to check out the photos below!
